Kurt Fendt (Instructor)
Dr. Kurt Fendt is Senior Lecturer in Comparative Media Studies/Writing (CMS/W) and Director of MIT’s Active Archives Initiative. He teaches Digital Humanities subjects in CMS/W and German Studies courses in Global Languages. He is PI of the collaborative annotation platform Annotation Studio and several other digital media and archival projects.

Emelie Eldracher
Andover-based Emelie is a senior studying 6-9, Computation and Cognition with a concentration in Comparitive Media Studies. Her passion for, and work in, fashion has influenced her hope of positively impacting the world through wearble devices. From coxing on the Charles each morning to breaking boards in Tang Soo Do, Emelie wants to bring athletic competitive elements to her designs as well. She’s extremely excited to learn more about the evolution of design and how to incorporate psychology into her work through CMS.405.

Viviana Rivera
Viviana is a junior at MIT studying Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Global Development and Entrepreneurship. She is passionate about innovation, human centered design, and social entrepreneurship. She also enjoys working on various artistic projects in dance, ceramics, and sketching and is taking CMS.405 to explore her creative side further during her time at MIT.

Jumana is a PhD student in CS at CSAIL, EECS. She researches, designs and builds interactions to make people’s life easier, more efficient and hopefully more fun! She is taking this class to learn more about the literature of visual design and apply that to the tools she is building.

Daniel Zhang
Daniel Zhang is a senior at MIT majoring in Biology and minoring in Comparative Media Studies. He is passionate about STEM education and using design as a medium for effective communication. In particular, he is taking CMS.405 to dive deeper into the methodology of design and how it can be applied effectively in the real world.

Bernice Sun
Bernice Sun is a sophomore at Wellesley College hoping to study Media Arts and Sciences and East Asian Studies. She is taking CMS.405 to explore design in an academic setting. Her interests are mainly in web design/graphic design and she hopes to apply it to her passion for fashion.

Tiffany Trinh
Tiffany Trinh is a senior at MIT majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and potentially minoring in Comparative Media Studies. She loves coding and hopes to inspire others to explore STEM, particularly tech and computer science. She is taking CMS.405 to explore design and improve the UI/UX of software applications she makes. Ethan Nevidomsky
Ethan Nevidomsky is a senior double majoring in Comparative Media Studies and Computer Science and Engineering. They are interested in immersive experience design and generative art. Their past experience includes UROPing at Opera of the Future and the Visualization Lab at CSAIL. This year, they will be doing a SuperUROP at the Spatial Sound Lab.
